      Many people know that “Street is dangerous as like as a tiger, beware of the traffic accidents”. In fact, how many people can be a responsible pedestrian?

      According to Government of Macao Special Administrative Region Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the statistics showing that in 2012, there were three hundred and eighteen(318) people violated the traffic rules; seven hundred and eighty-eight(788) people involved in the traffic accident, five thousand and six hundred sixty eight(5268) people got injury or death due to the traffic accident. 

      This statistics showing that, around one pedestrian violated the traffic rules, two pedestrians involved in the traffic accident and fourteen pedestrians got injury or even death due to the traffic accident in 2012.

      Human being’s habits are easy influenced by environment. If someone is ignoring the traffic rules to cross the road when the red light are lighting, others will follow. This is a common phenomenon that we can see in daily. Even some people will think “it is foolish that when the red lights on, I waiting for the green light and others are crossing the road. It is unconscious when I follow the people violate the road rule”. Actually, because the social rules get failure and people will create a norm of “why I cannot be like this when everyone is doing this?” 

      Even though there are legal law are saying that, this is wrong, but no one strictly enforce and supervision. Who will still follow the rules?

       If everyone being a responsible pedestrian, the numbers of traffic accident must be decrease. According to this serious statistics, please be careful to protect yourself.
